In detail Description: Children and parents come together to find enchantment, magic, and nourish the imagination. Ms. Una greets the children each week in costume, for she is, after all, half fairy. Children and parents find waldorf inspired rhythm while enjoying surprises along the way. Time each week is spent playing with our wooden toys, dress up and silks, tea time, circle time, puppetry with felted puppets and story time. Don’t forget our nature hikes, painting, felting, parent handwork, drawing and more. The use of symbols instead of written names, the elimination of recorded music and media, the appreciation of hand made objects and the understanding of the “art of play” for children are just some of the waldorf inspired aspects of our adventures together. Yet, here at class, we are flexible and learning, not strictly waldorf. For those who want a little of both worlds Ms. Una’s class is for you!

Ms. Una’s love of science, fantasy, and nature combine to include things like: treasure hunts, earth art, play performance, playing the drum, and silly song creation. We may all be pirates one week and fairies the next. Una’s class is for children who love fantasy such as pirates, unicorns, dragons, princesses ect and it is a big part of our class. Una is also continually mindful of where children are at. What does that mean? She listens to the children and follows their rhythms, when it is appropriate. She is a believer in non-violent communication and often teaches the children conflict resolution when it is called for. She also believes in freedom for children, helping them to feel free and loved. The goal of this class is to honor childhood, learning together as one community and infusing health in our children by experience life together in a wholesome way.
